Party on the Streets of Last Ditch: an Insight into Life in the GSP Dancers [5th Dec 29482]

The deep booming sounds of guitars heralded the arrival of metallic-master DJ Ashval of GridStream Productions in Last Ditch on Thursday night. The usually quiet streets soon filled with people, shouts and lights as the street party went on late into the night, attracting the attentions, once again, of scores of dancers (GSP or otherwise), ARK Coordinator Hydraa (who seems never to pass up a boogie oppertunity) and even the well-known Last Ditch merchant, Eddie (who did not appear too pleased).

Among the general let-your-hair-down fun and frolicking I was granted the oppertunity of an interview with two of the GSP Dancers, who are ever-present at GridStream events, running contests, helping out and generally having a good time. I spoke to a relatively new Dancer, Whispernwind and Squad Commander Sneakpastu:

----------------------

NN: Hi guys, thanks for taking the time...

Sneakpastu: You are most welcome.
Whispernwind: It is a pleasure

NN: So Whispernwind, you're a new dancer? How are they treating you so far?

Sneakpastu: Whisper may be new to the org but he's been around a good while.
Whispernwind: They are great. Have been teaching me the rope to be a good dancer.

NN: Looks like they're doing a good job.

Whispernwind: I think they have. I have been having fun as well as learning how to help the DJ's.

NN: And, Sneak, you're more of a veteran dancer?

Sneakpastu: I have been around a bit longer.  I am a Squad Commander - helped restart the idea of Dancers doing contest in Vincinity.

NN: Great! What are your favourite kinds of contests to run, both of you?

Whispernwind: I like trivia contests about RK the best.
Sneakpastu: I like to ask random trivia questions abou the DJ's.  I give out random prizes and/or credits with it.

NN: Sounds fun. What other kinds of duties do you have?

Sneakpastu: We try to make it fun for the fans who come out to support the DJs. We answer questions in vincinity so the DJs can do what they do best. Sometimes it is as simple as telling someone how to connect to the station. Which gets asked a lot.

NN: I can imagine. Is there some kind of training regime you have to go though to keep your dancing at peak performace?

Whispernwind: I like to listen to DJ's and playlists to tailor my skills in that area.
Sneakpastu: We show new Dancers if they don't all ready know how to script.  As that is a common question as well.

NN: What information do you have for people who might be wanting to try out to become a GSP dancer?

Sneakpastu: Dancers come from the loyal listeners of GSP. Come out to the shows, let us and the DJs get to know you. You do have to be 18 or older.
Whispernwind: Come to the GSP parties, get to know us and the DJ's.

NN: Would you recommend joining [The Dancers], Whisper?

Whispernwind: Oh yes. I have been around for 3 years now, and this is the most fun I've had.

NN: Great! Do you ever find that people have misconceptions about what the Dancers do?

Sneakpastu: I think that some don't understand that GSP and GSP Dancers are two seperate orgs.  We exist to support GSP and wouldn't be here without them being live every night.
Whispernwind: We are here for the fans, to help them have fun , and ofcourse for the DJ's to help them at shows.

NN: Well thank you very much...

Sneakpastu: You are most welcome. Glad to have been of help to you.
Whispernwind: It was a pleasure

NN: Is there anything else you'd like to add for Newland News readers about the GSP dancers?

Sneakpastu: We are a fun social org that loves the DJs that work so hard to bring us music.

NN: That they do.

Whispernwind: I beleive that anyone thet enjoys the social aspects of RK should consider the dancers.
Sneakpastu: We are very social.  We don't level much...but do help each other out.

NN: Thank you both for your time again then!

----------------------

The night's festivities progressed with many people coming and going, including some who hadn't heard of the GridStream organisation before. I had the oppertunity to talk to a first-timer at a GridStream event, Fiestykeep:

NN: Thanks for taking the time for this.

Fiestykeep: It's ok, I've been here for one and a half hours... Party!

NN: This is your first experience with GSP right?

Fiestykeep: Yes.

NN: How are you enjoying it?

Fiestykeep: It is great. Ashval is an amazing DJ. A lot of rock, roll and fun. Especially when Eddie the tailor went on a killin' spree.

NN: I didn't see that.

Fiestykeep: It was great! Eddie can do some damage.

NN: So what do you think about the general idea behind GridStream?

Fiestykeep: I think it is a great way for people to be introduced to new music. Plus it is has great people behind the scenes and a good organizer.

NN: Will you be looking out for more of these events?

Fiestykeep: Yes.

NN: What about the people here, did you meet anyone interesting?

Fiestykeep: I generally knew most of the people who were here. The dancers I was completely unaware of and the people i did not know about are very nice.

NN: Were you impressed by the dancers?

Fiestykeep: Yes. Very fun, festive and active.

NN: Anything you'd like to add for the Newland News readers about the GSP parties?

Fiestykeep: Please come. they are very fun and a way to escape the boring grind, meet new people, and maybe even find a respectable organization.

NN: Great! Thanks a lot for your time.

Fiestykeep: Awesome!
